Day 9 - God The Father

Matt 6:9Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

Over and over while He taught about God, Jesus referred to Him as “Father.” Sometimes He called Him “My Father,” and sometimes He called Him “Your Father.” One way or another, the message is clear: God is our Father.

He is a loving, heavenly Father who only wants good for His children. He is a powerful heavenly Father, willing to come to our aid when we need it. He is a wise heavenly Father who can guide us through life. He is a good heavenly Father whom we can trust with everything.

He wants to have a relationship – a connection with each one of us so we can experience His fullness, so we can glorify Him, and so we can enjoy companionship with Him forever. He wants to be close with us.

We all have a picture of what an earthly father is like. Some will have a positive picture because of their own father’s good influence on them. But of course, there are many who have a negative view of “father” because they had a very negative experience with their father.

Whatever your history, get to know your heavenly Father – He is a perfect Father, and He wants to be your Father. But you play a part in that: Jesus said in John 1:12, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.

So receive Him as your Father, and you will experience His love, His wisdom, His power and His glory.

Consider:

How does your experience with your own father impact what you think about “father” in general?

Can you see that God is a perfect Father, and that He wants to have a relationship with you?
